Reduction in child benefits...............

Postby mike » 04 Oct 2010, 22:28

Whilst I wholeheartedly applaud the logic behind it - I find it rather mystifying that one parent could be on 45K and another on 10K and lose the benefit, yet another couple with one on 39K and the other on 39K would retain it.

George - you got this one very badly wrong.

:( I agree - surely the logical, common-sense method would be to cap it at £44k total - or you're gonna get a couple both just under the limit, earning over £87k and still getting CB ? Absolutely non-sensical :?

Yes I agree, as a poor person reliant on things such as child benefit I am amazed that they reckon that cut will save 1 Billion alone!!! I wonder how much it would save if it was across the board for 'household' income above 44k?

Next should be the heating allowance, my Mother boasts every year that she gets it and doesnt need it, maybe that will save loads too.

Absolutely - for my sins I receive it and am in full time employment. I earn about the national average and therefore should not get it.

However, as there is no way of refusing it I'll gratefully take it and spend it very unwisely !!
